Removing or replacing doors can be
a simple and quick improvement that can make a big difference in
the décor of your home. Sometimes you may need to remove
a door to accommodate large pieces of furniture during moving, or
even making renovating much easier without the hassle of
a door constantly being in the way.You don't need a lot of tools
to remove a door. Screwdrivers, a hammer and sometimes a chisel
are often the only items you will use. The process of removing the
door can take just a few minutes, so it can be done at any time
or by anyone. In most cases, it is not necessary
to remove the entire hinge plate in order to remove the door. By
taking out the hinge pins, a door can be easily removed with the
least amount of work. The pins can be removed by taking a thin screwdriver
or chisel to the hinge where the head of the pin is visible and
using the hammer to pry the pin out of the hinge. This process can
be repeated on all the hinges until the door is loose. If by chance
the pins are tight within the hinge, you can jiggle the door
back and forth to loosen the pins. Once the pins are removed, the
door is free to be pulled away from the hinges. After the renovation has been done,
or the door has been replaced, it can be put back on the hinges
as easily as it was taken off. Align the door back on the
hinges and slide the pins back in. You may need to tap them back
in with a hammer if you have any trouble. While the door is removed, you can
also take care of squeaky hinges by adding a few drops of oil to
the hinge. Taking the hinges completely out of the doorframe is
not always a good idea since the wear and tear of removing screws
can strip the holes, making it harder to hold the door firmly
in the frame.
Since removing a door can take only a few minutes, it is a simple
and quick way to make an improvement to a home, or update the overall
look of a room.
