If you have elementary school aged
children, then you most likely are very familiar with webkinz. Your
computer has, undoubtedly, been taken over by your youngster with
exclamations like: "I have to feed my Webkinz" "My
webkinz' happy points are going down".....
There is nothing electrical or mechanical
about the wekinz. They are simply a stuffed animal with a code attached
to them in a little plastic envelope. You enter this code on the
webkinz website and the little stuffed animal becomes an animated
"sims" like character that can interact with the other
webkinz.
There are something like 40 different
webkinz available. Due to their popularity, they are actually becoming
collector's items. The maker of Webkinz is keen on this and will
start retiring" them, which will only increase their value.
We purchase them at local Hallmark
stores and on Amazon.com. The webkinz site lists local retailers
that carry them; "May or may not" carry them is more appropriate
as they are so popular that stores run out of them.
We also have been purchasing them
on eBay as well. Here are some listings (Notice how many there are
and that are saying "retired". The collectors market is
being created):
