Leaking Dishwasher

Dishwasher
Is your dishwasher leaking water on the floor? Often there is a simple solution to this problem:

  • Position the dishes so that the surfaces direct the away from the door.

  • Don't overfill the dishwasher. Water can't drain properly when the dishwasher is too full.

  • Don't use soap made for handwashing dishes like Dawn or Palmolive. They encourage foaming which causes leaks.

A faulty door seal can cause leaking, Try tightening the screws that hold the seal to the door panel. If this doesn't work, the seal will have to be replaced. The front panel usually has to be removed first. Be sure the seal is the right fit for the dishwasher model you have. Adjust the door hinges to ensure a snug fit. Don't fit too tightly as this can cause a leak.

Remove the service panel that is just below the door. Check the connection between the drain hose and the dishwasher for leaks. Tighten with a screwdriver.

Check for leaks around the water-inlet valve as well as around the kitchen sink drain connection.

Make sure the dishwasher is level. Place a level on the inside bottom of the dishwasher. If it out of level, remove the service panel, unscrew the dishwasher from the countertop, pull out the dishwasher and adjust the leveling feet accordingly.

Any more leaking problems require a Service Person to check.
