if
your dishwasher fails to complete its cycle, there could be a problem
with the timer switch. The timer is what guides the dishwasher thru
its various stages.
If
the dishwasher stays stuck in one cycle- doing one job continuously-
or advances thru a few cycles and then stops, suspect a malfunctioning
timer.
Purchase
a replacement timer. Remove the front panel of the washer and find
the switch. It is usually right behind the control knob. Snap a
few digital photos of the wire assembly to simplify installation
of the new switch. Simply remove the old switch and replace it with
the new one.
Sometimes,
a bad heating assembly can cause the washer to not advance past
it initial starting point. On dishwashers that preheat the water,
there are 2 methods to this. Some use a timer when heating the water,
others use a temperature sensor. The ones with with a timer will
advance the cycle irregardless of water temperature. If there is
a problem with the heating element, then the water won't heat up
and the washers with temperature sensors won't advance the cycle.
There
also could be a problem with the cycle extender or selector switch.
